Gemili: 'We can challenge Bolt in relay'

Team England sprinter Adam Gemili has insisted that his 4x100m relay team can challenge Usain Bolt and the Jamaicans for a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Gemili picked up his first senior medal this evening as he finished second in the 100m sprint at Hampden Park in Glasgow, only losing out to Kemar Bailey-Cole in the showpiece event.

The 20-year-old expressed his delight at having picked up a Commonwealth silver, but is already looking ahead to this weekend and expects the relay team to be in the mix for a gold.

"I'm very happy with the relay, it's going to be good. We're going to challenge the Jamaicans," Gemili told Sports Mole.

"Obviously you've got big Usain Bolt doing it, and he's unbelievably talented, but I think we're going to be in contention - hopefully be in the mix for a medal and hopefully be pushing for gold."

The 4x100m relay heats will take place on Friday before the final on Saturday.
