Hannah England and teammates into 1500m final at Commonwealth Games

Hannah England and teammates Laura Weightman and Jemma Simpson qualify for the final of the women's 1500m, but Kenya set the pace in the Commonwealth Games heats.

All three of Team England's runners safely qualified for the final of the women's 1500m at the Commonwealth Games this afternoon.

Hannah England finished fourth in a fast first heat which was won by Kenya's Hellen Obiri in a Games record time of 4.04.43 minutes, while Scotland's Laura Muir was third.

Kenya were also winners of the second heat as Faith Kibiegon pipped Canada's Kate van Buskirk to the line, with England's Laura Weightman third but almost four seconds behind the pace of the quickest qualifier.

Jemma Simpson could not sneak into the top four in her heat, but still made it three from three for England as she joined her teammates in progressing to the medal race as the last of four fastest losers.
