David Goffin eases past Alexander Ward at Wimbledon

Great Britain's Alexander Ward succumbs to a straight-sets defeat to 11th seed David Goffin on his Wimbledon debut.

David Goffin has secured a routine win over Great Britain's Alexander Ward to move through to the second round at Wimbledon.

The 11th seed dropped just seven games against the wildcard as he eased to a 6-2 6-3 6-2 victory over the world number 245.

The Belgian dominated the match from start to finish and took six of his 16 break-point opportunities against his opponent, who managed just 10 points on Goffin's serve during the 91-minute match.

Goffin is bidding to reach the quarter-finals at Wimbledon for the first time having made it through the last 16 in 2015.
