Roger Federer says that Andy Murray can win multiple Grand Slams before the end of his career.

Roger Federer has said that Andy Murray will one day be a Grand Slam champion.

The Swiss clinched his 17th Grand Slam title with a four-set victory over the Scot at SW19 on Sunday.

It was the third time that Federer has beaten Murray in a Grand Slam final, but the 30-year-old said that the British number one's time will come.

"I really do believe deep down in me he will win Grand Slams, not just one," said Federer. "I do wish him all the best. This is genuine. He works extremely hard. He's as professional as you can be.

"Things just didn't quite turn out for him in the finals that he hoped for. But today I'm sure he got another step closer to a Grand Slam title for him.

"I really do believe and hope for him that he's going to win one soon."

Federer's victory means that he usurps Novak Djokovic as the world number one.
