Dean Richards thrilled by Newcastle Falcons win

Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards hails his team for showing "real character" during their victory at home to Gloucester.

Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards has praised his players for showing "real character" during Friday's win over Gloucester Rugby in the Aviva Premiership.

The Falcons conceded a try in the opening minute at Kingston Park, but they fought back to claim a 20-10 victory.

The result has lifted Newcastle up to 10th place in the table, 12 points clear of the dropzone.

"We're no pushovers now," Richards is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "Our defence was outstanding and showed the real character in this side.

"We played the conditions well and came back after their early try which was a bit of a reality check for us, and the early try we scored in the second half was vital."

Newcastle continue their league campaign next Sunday when they entertain Sale Sharks.
