Eddie Jones excited by Springboks test

Japan head coach Eddie Jones claims that his side are excited by the challenge of facing South Africa in their World Cup opener.

Japan head coach Eddie Jones has insisted that his side will relish the challenge of taking on South Africa in their World Cup opener.

Victory for Japan in Saturday's Pool B match in Brighton would arguably be the biggest shock in the history of the tournament, and Jones claims that his players will rise to the occasion of playing against the two-time winners.

"It's David vs. Goliath," Jones told reporters. "They've got the greatest winning record in World Cup history, a massive physical team with experience."

"We've got the least winning record at the World Cup, and we're the smallest team in the World Cup. But for us, we have the most experienced Japanese team. It's a great opportunity for us, we're looking forward to it."

Japan have won just one of their 24 World Cup games.
