Edinburgh move above Perpignan with win

Edinburgh beat Perpignan in the Heineken Cup to move above them in Pool 6.

Edinburgh have beaten Perpignan 27-16 in Pool 6 of the Heineken Cup to move above them into third, thanks to a strong second-half showing.

The Murrayfield side started really well and inside 16 minutes were 10-0 ahead. First Greig Laidlaw scored a penalty before he converted a Tom Brown try, who went over on the quarter-hour mark.

Visiting Perpignan rallied and pulled themselves to within four points, as James Hook put two penalties between the posts on 19 and 32 minutes.

After Laidlaw had put Edinburgh 13-6 ahead, they also got the vital next points, with Cornell Du Preez's try converted to put them 12 points ahead in what looked an insurmountable lead.

From then on it was comfortable enough for the hosts, who took the important win after a Douglas Fife try was converted with 20 left to play, with a late try from Maxime Delonca Perpignan's only consolation.
