West Ham United reportedly fear that midfielder Jack Wilshere will not play again this season.

West Ham United reportedly fear that Jack Wilshere will miss the rest of the season.

Wilshere joined the Hammers on a free transfer during the summer, and the former Arsenal man initially found himself in Manuel Pellegrini's starting lineup.

However, the 27-year-old has played just five minutes of football since West Ham's defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the start of December due to a persistent ankle injury which has already required surgery.

Wilshere had initially been pencilled in to make his return to action in February, but according to the Daily Mail, West Ham are currently unsure whether the Englishman will feature again this season.

The playmaker penned a three-year contract at the London Stadium in the summer.
