Bayern Munich chief 'opens door to signing Liverpool's Mohamed Salah'

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed that it would be "an honour" to sign Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah but suggests that they have no imminent plans to bring him to Germany.

Salah, who joined the Reds from Italian side Roma in 2017, has transformed under Jurgen Klopp into one of the world's best forwards, despite failing to succeed at Chelsea earlier in his career.

The Egyptian's performances have alerted many of the top clubs in Europe with Rummenigge rating the 28-year-old very highly, comparing him with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, however he is not expecting Salah to arrive at the Bundesliga club any time soon.

"In my opinion, Salah is the Messi of Africa and of course he has the skills to play for the best teams in the world," Rummenigge told ON Time Sports.

"What he [Salah] has achieved can be compared to what Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo did with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

"At the moment we don't plan on signing Salah, but certainly it would be an honour to have him."

Salah is currently the Premier League's top goalscorer, finding the net 16 times from 22 appearances so far this campaign.

Jurgen Klopp 'frustrated over failed Kalidou Koulibaly move'

Jurgen Klopp has reportedly grown increasingly frustrated with Liverpool's transfer policy despite the current owners believing that they have done the best they could considering the current financial climate.

The German was desperate to bring in defensive reinforcements before the February 1 deadline and the Reds managed to sign centre-backs Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak from Preston North End and Schalke 04 respectively.

However, The Sun reports that Klopp was annoyed that Liverpool failed to make a move for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who was understood to have been the 53-year-old's primary target.

Koulibaly, 29, has been linked with a move away from Italy over the last few seasons and is valued at around £100m by club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis - a fee the Reds would be unwilling to pay.

Instead, Liverpool opted to recruit cheaper alternatives with Davies arriving for a fee believed to be around £2m, while Kabak joined on loan for the remainder of the season with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

Koulibaly, who has been at Napoli since 2014, has made over 270 appearances for the club, including 25 in all competitions this campaign.
