Late Daniel Ginczek brace wins it for Stuttgart against Werder Bremen

Daniel Ginczek scored two late goals to seal a much-needed victory for 10-man Stuttgart at the Mercedes-Benz Arena this evening.

The 3-2 win moves Stuttgart off of the bottom of the Bundesliga table, as they looked likely to draw the game after what was thought to be a late equaliser from Jannik Vestergaard minutes earlier.

Despite Martin Harnik receiving his second yellow card six minutes from time, the relegation strugglers fought back to claim a vital three points.

The hosts took the lead after a quarter-of-an-hour, as Christian Gentner's low-hard strike from 25 yards kept the keeper rooted to the ground.

Davie Selke equalised with diving header after a long ball from the left took out the whole Stuttgart defence, leaving it for the Werder Bremen striker to finish smartly.

The hosts regained the lead as Ginczek redeemed himself after missing two sitters, heading in after some good work from Harnik, who managed to round the keeper and cross for the 23-year-old to make it 2-1.

Stuttgart thought they had done enough to win it but down to 10 men, they left Vestergaard to head home an 86th-minute equaliser from a corner.

However, a determined run and inch-perfect pass from Serey Die allowed Ginczek to finish through the legs of Raphael Wolf to send the home crowd into a frenzy.

Stuttgart are now three points from safety while Bremen stay in ninth.
