Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with Real Madrid over a potential deal for Gareth Bale, according to a report.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in discussions with Real Madrid over a potential deal for Gareth Bale before the January transfer window closes for business.

The 30-year-old has only made 15 appearances for Los Blancos during the 2019-20 campaign having again struggled with a number of injury problems.

The attacker's future at the Bernabeu remains the subject of much speculation, and according to the Daily Express, Spurs have now opened transfer talks with Madrid.

The report claims that the Premier League outfit are 'working around the clock' in the hope of bringing the Wales international back to the club on a permanent basis before the end of the month.

Bale still has two and a half years left to run on his contract at the Bernabeu, which is believed to pay the former left-back in excess of £600,000 a week.

Los Blancos are allegedly against a loan exit at this stage but would be open to a permanent sale having been keen to shift the Welshman in last summer's transfer window.

Bale turned out for Spurs between 2007 and 2013, scoring 55 times in 203 appearances.
