Half-Time Report: Tottenham Hotspur come from behind to lead Everton at break

Tottenham Hotspur come from behind to take a 2-1 lead into the break against Everton at White Hart Lane.

Roberto Soldado scored in first-half stoppage time to give Tottenham Hotspur a 2-1 lead over Everton at half time at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

The visitors dominated possession early on and had a chance to take the lead just eight minutes in when Romelu Lukaku had a shot denied by Hugo Lloris, after Ross Barkley had battled to set the Belgian up on the edge of the box.

Everton were ahead shortly after, though, as Spurs cleared a Leighton Baines free kick only as far as Kevin Mirallas, who curled the ball into the top corner from 20 yards out.

The lead was short lived though as Christian Eriksen got Tottenham back on level terms just six minutes later, after Tim Howard had parried a Harry Kane effort to the Dane.

Eriksen had a chance to put the hosts ahead before the break, but his driven effort from the edge of the box was deflected wide.

Seamus Coleman tried to restore Everton's advantage, but Lloris was ready for his strike at the near post, while Soldado failed to get his effort away down the other end moments later.

Spurs kept pressing though, and Soldado did find the target in the final seconds of the half, slotting the ball beyond Howard, after Kane had dispossessed Gareth Barry, for his first league goal in eight months.
