Ally McCoist calls for calm after Rangers win

Rangers boss Ally McCoist warns that there is a long way to go in the season, despite opening up a nine-point gap at the top of the SPL.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has warned that there is a long way to go in the season, despite seeing his side move nine points clear at the top of the SPL.

The Gers' 1-0 win against Hibernian has taken them nine points ahead of second-placed Motherwell and ten points in front of rivals Celtic, although Neil Lennon's side have two games in hand.

"We now have a good gap at the top of the SPL but at this stage I don't think that is really important," McCoist told the club's official website.

"It was just important that we got a good result to keep our recent run of results going and to get another clean sheet was a bonus.

"There is miles to go but we are in a good position right now and I'm pleased with the points we have got in the league so far."

Rangers host St Mirren in the league on October 15, after the upcoming international break.
