Sports Mole previews Saturday's Eredivisie clash between PSV Eindhoven and Sparta Rotterdam, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Similarly, the away side make the trip to the Philips Stadion aiming to continue their upturn in form which has seen them lose just one of the last seven outings.

PSV Eindhoven saw off the threat of AC Milan with relative ease thanks to a comprehensive 3-0 victory in a friendly encounter on December 30.

First-half goals from Guus Til and Noni Madueke put Ruud van Nistelrooy's men in cruise control before Madueke sealed the deal with his second of the contest.

That was a third consecutive victory for the Rood-witten since their 1-0 defeat against AZ Alkmaar which saw them drop to third place in the Eredivisie table.

Next up is the challenge of an opposing outfit who have been beaten in seven of the most recent eight editions of the fixture dating back to 2017.

Having netted 25 times across their seven home league matches this term, Saturday's hosts will be looking to put on a show in front of their fans once again.

Sparta Rotterdam rounded off 2022 on a winning note as they got the better of Vitesse in a 1-0 victory at the Sparta Stadion Het Kasteel on December 22.

Dirk Abels broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time and that was enough to see Maurice Steijn's men over the line in a hard-fought contest.

Picking up seven points from their last three league matches leading up to the World Cup, De Kasteelheren have moved up to sixth place in the standings following a bright start to the campaign.

In the first of two straight meetings against PSV, Sparta set out to secure what would be an impressive victory ahead of the sides' KNVB-Beker clash three days later.

Team News

PSV's Olivier Boscagli continues to nurse a long-term knee injury which will keep the Frenchman out of contention to be selected on Saturday.

Marco van Ginkel also misses out for the home side due to a muscle problem, while Kjell Peersman is yet to fully recuperate from a back injury.

Following the departure of Cody Gakpo, the likes of Noni Madueke and Yorbe Vertessen will be pushing for a regular place in the starting lineup.

Tim Coremans remains unavailable for Sparta Rotterdam due to a shoulder problem which has seen the goalkeeper miss each of the last 19 matches.

Younes Namli is without an appearance for the visitors since October, but the 28-year-old is drawing increasingly closer to making his return to action.

PSV Eindhoven possible starting lineup:
Benitez; Teze, Ramalho, Obispo, Max; Sangare, Veerman; Madueke, Til, El Ghazi; Vertessen
