Nice beat Rennes 2-1 at the Stade du Ray to claims their first three points of the new Ligue 1 season.

Nice have registered their first win of the Ligue 1 campaign by beating Rennes 2-1 at the Stade du Ray.

Dario Cvitanich fired the hosts into a 20th minute lead and should have doubled that advantage just before half time, but saw a close-range effort come back off the post.

Les Aiglons were punished for that miss moments later, as Nelson Oliveira swooped to level the score just before the break.

It was a defensive catastrophe that gifted the lead back to Claude Puel's men, with Kevin Gomis failing to clear his lines and having his pockets pinched by Jeremy Pied, who then shot low beyond Benoit Costil.

Thimothee Kolodzieczak nearly forced a third goal by bundling in a corner kick, but the ball come bouncing back off the crossbar.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men when Vincent Pajot saw red for a foul on Valentin Eysseric in the 89th minute.
