Marvin Emnes scores twice as Middlesbrough beat Millwall 2-1 at the Den.

Marvin Emnes scored twice as Middlesbrough moved into the playoff positions with a 3-1 win over Millwall at the Den tonight.

Boro came flying out of the blocks and had several chances to take an early lead.

New signing Lukas Jutkiewicz had two early opportunities, but first shot past the post before having a second effort pushed wide by David Forde.

From the resultant corner, the visitors threatened again but Emnes headed over from inside the six-yard box.

It was the Dutch striker who eventually opened the scoring for the Teesiders, when Rhys Williams's volley flew in off his back and into the Millwall net.

His second came in more traditional circumstances when he took advantage of sloppy Millwall defending to turn on the edge of the box and strike low into the corner.

Having been dominated in the early exchanges, the hosts pulled a goal against the run of play courtesy of Darius Henderson's 17th of the season.

In the second period, Liam Trotter had Millwall's best chance to level but shot over the crossbar.

Tony Mowbray's side secured the points when young substitute Curtis Main added a third late on.
