Manchester United allegedly remain active in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz, despite reports linking the Germany international with Chelsea.

Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz is allegedly open to moving to Manchester United during the next transfer window.

Although the 20-year-old has been heavily linked with a wide range of clubs, recent reports have claimed that Chelsea are the clear favourites to sign the Germany international.

However, despite their interest in Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, Bild's head of football Christian Falk says that United remain keen on winning the race for Leverkusen's star man.

Speaking to Utd Report, Falk said: "Manchester United is an option for Kai Havertz, because his management have been told about the big plans of the new team.

"But, Chelsea are more concrete in the talks at the moment. Perhaps Chelsea are again faster than United, like in the case of Timo Werner."

Havertz, who could cost £75m, has contributed 11 goals and five assists in 26 Bundesliga outings this season.
