Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Newcastle United

Sports Mole rounds up all of Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

Manchester United will be hoping to use their impressive Europa League victory over Real Sociedad as a catalyst to kick on in the Premier League when they take on Newcastle United.

The Red Devils thrashed Sociedad 4-0 in Thursday's last-32 first leg and now switch focus to Sunday's league clash with Newcastle at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men enter the weekend's games second in the table, but they are now 10 points adrift of Manchester City after the leaders won their game in hand in midweek.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Man United's injury and suspension news ahead of the visit of Newcastle.

Paul Pogba

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: Unknown

United have been without Paul Pogba since the midfielder limped off with a thigh problem in the 3-3 draw with Everton on February 6. Solskjaer recently confirmed that Pogba will not be back in action this month.

Edinson Cavani

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: February 18 (vs. Newcastle)

Edinson Cavani did not travel to Turin for the Europa League tie with Sociedad after sustaining a muscle injury ahead of the game. The prolific striker is now in a race against time to be fit for Sunday's match.

Donny van de Beek

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: February 21 (vs. Newcastle)

Like Cavani, Donny van de Beek was ruled out of the Sociedad game with a muscle injury. Even if he does recover in time, it is unlikely that the midfielder will play a prominent role against Newcastle.

Scott McTominay

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: February 21 (vs. Newcastle)

Scott McTominay was a doubt ahead of the Sociedad match, but he was passed fit to play and lasted an hour before limping off. Solskjaer will not want to take any risks on the midfielder's fitness.

Phil Jones

Phil Jones has been included in United's Premier League squad for the second half of the season, but he has not played all season because of a knee issue and is unlikely to feature before the end of the campaign.
