Ignacio Camacho heads the only goal of the game as Malaga take maximum points from their home encounter against Valencia.

Malaga have kept up their quest to secure Champions League football by defeating Valencia 1-0 at La Rosaleda this evening.

The first chance of the match fell to Valencia striker Roberto Soldado, but the Spanish striker failed to make a clean connection with Jeremy Mathieu's cross.

In what was their first meaningful attack of the game, Malaga broke the deadlock. Jesus Gamaz sent over a cross which was met by Ignacio Camacho, who guided a headed effort into the bottom left hand corner of the net with 27 minutes on the clock.

Santiago Cazorla went close to doubling his side's advantage just before the break, but his low effort shaved the upright.

The home side continued to dominate after the restart, but wingers Carzola and Joaquin in particular were wasteful in front of goal.

However, they were not punished as Valencia failed to breach the home side's net.

The result means that Valencia and Malaga are now level in the La Liga table on 55 points.
