Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan says that both the Italian giants and Champions League opponents Liverpool compete like "warriors".

Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan has claimed that he did not want the Italian giants to be drawn against Liverpool in the Champions League semi-finals.

At the last-eight stage, both Roma and Liverpool pulled off surprise results as famous victories were recorded over Barcelona and Manchester City respectively.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid will contest the other tie, but Nainggolan has suggested that he was more concerned about facing the Merseyside giants, who he says play like "warriors".

The 29-year-old told Babar Het Laatste Nieuws: "I wasn't happy with the draw, because in my view Liverpool were the toughest team out of the three.

"It's not that they have more quality than Real Madrid or Bayern, but they put a lot of hard work in and have nothing to lose. Real and Bayern might've underestimated Roma, but Liverpool are warriors, a bit like us."

The first leg of the tie takes place at Anfield on Tuesday night.
