Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino hits out at Ross McCormack

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino claims that he was forced to sell Ross McCormack to Fulham because the striker "disrespected" him.

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has hit out at Ross McCormack following the striker's move to Fulham.

McCormack, who scored 29 goals last season, joined the Cottagers on Tuesday for a reported fee of £11m.

Cellino recently claimed that he was keen to keep hold of the 27-year-old, but the Italian has now said that he had no choice but to sell the Scot after being "disrespected".

"I like to be in control of situations but it felt like he wasn't my player. I was disrespected, he was aggressive with me," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"He didn't turn up for the tour and all the time he wanted to go from here. It wasn't in my mind to sell McCormack, it wasn't my plan, but I had no choice.

"He's a bloody good player and I'm not going to pretend that he isn't but he didn't respect me and it wasn't possible to keep him."

McCormack arrived at Elland Road from Cardiff City in 2010.
