Saturday's Championship predictions including Coventry City vs. Sunderland

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Championship fixtures, including Coventry City vs. Sunderland.

Birmingham vs. Plymouth (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Birmingham City manager John Eustace reacts on March 14, 2023© Reuters

Birmingham City will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the Championship season when they welcome newly-promoted Plymouth Argyle to St Andrew's on Saturday afternoon.

Blues had another day to remember at Ashton Gate against Bristol City last weekend, whereas Argyle suffered last-minute heartbreak at home to Southampton on the same day.

We say: Birmingham City 1-1 Plymouth Argyle

Birmingham have started the campaign in promising fashion, but injuries to Dembele and Laird are set to make earning a maximum significantly harder this weekend.

Plymouth may be looking to set their sights higher than just Championship safety this term, and we expect the Green Army to return to Devon with a point on Saturday evening.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Cardiff vs. Sheff Weds (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Two sides searching for a first win of the Championship season will square off in South Wales on Saturday, as Cardiff City welcome Sheffield Wednesday.

The visitors are the only side in the division without a point from their opening three league outings, while their hosts have only managed one draw and are also on the back of consecutive defeats.

We say: Cardiff City 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Cardiff City have arguably been better than their results so far this season suggest, while the visiting Owls are yet to find their form on their return to the Championship, and we envisage a first league win of the season for Bulut's side as a result.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Coventry vs. Sunderland (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Coventry City play host to Sunderland on Saturday looking to build on their recent improvement in the Championship.

While the Sky Blues now sit in 10th position in the standings, the visitors also hope that they are on an upward curve after a disappointing start.

We say: Coventry City 3-1 Sunderland

In theory, a battle between two of last season's playoff sides should be a closely-fought affair. Nevertheless, we have been left impressed by Coventry in recent weeks, and we are backing the home side to outclass their opponents this weekend.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Huddersfield vs. Norwich (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Huddersfield Town will entertain Norwich City in the fourth round of Championship fixture on Saturday, with the two sides having experienced differing starts to the new season.

The hosts picked up their first point of the season in an away draw last weekend, while their visitors are unbeaten with two victories and seven points on the board at this early stage.

We say: Huddersfield Town 1-2 Norwich City

Huddersfield will be resolute and tough to beat, particularly on home turf on Saturday, but Norwich travel with confidence and momentum on their side, and we anticipate the free-scoring Canaries doing enough to come out on top at the John Smith's Stadium.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Ipswich vs. Leeds (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna on February 7, 2023© Reuters

Ipswich Town will look to continue their perfect start to the Championship season on Saturday, when they welcome Leeds United to Portman Road in the fourth round of league fixtures this term.

The hosts have won all three of their second-tier outings, following their promotion from League One last time around, while their visitors are still searching for a first league victory of the campaign after their relegation from the Premier League.

We say: Ipswich Town 2-1 Leeds United

It is hard to look past this Ipswich Town side at present, particularly on home turf, given the momentum they hold under Kieran McKenna, and while Leeds do still possess plenty of quality and will travel desperate for a result, we back the Tractor Boys to make it four wins on the bounce on their return to the Championship.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Millwall vs. Stoke (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Millwall manager Gary Rowett reacts on May 8, 2023© Reuters

Millwall play host to Stoke City on Saturday afternoon looking to end a two-game losing streak in the Championship.

While the home side are down in 16th position in the standings, the visitors sit in eighth spot after generally impressing during the opening weeks.

We say: Millwall 1-2 Stoke City

At some point, the assumption is that this Millwall squad will eventually start to click and make a playoff push. For now, though, we can only back a Stoke side who have settled well, and their extra firepower could prove key in the closing stages.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Preston vs. Swansea (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe reacts on April 1, 2023© Reuters

Preston North End will be looking to extend their Championship unbeaten streak to four matches when they play host to Swansea City on Saturday.

At a time when the home side sit in sixth position in the standings, Swansea are down in 18th place as they wait for their first league win of the season.

We say: Preston North End 1-2 Swansea City

By all accounts, Preston have to be favourites for this contest, particularly when Piroe could be on the move. Nevertheless, we feel that Swansea may get off the mark in the wins column this weekend, albeit in a closely-fought encounter.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Rotherham vs. Leicester (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca on August 12, 2023© Reuters

Two sides who find themselves at opposite ends of the Championship table at this early stage of the season will meet at the New York Stadium for the first time ever on Saturday, as Rotherham United play host to Leicester City.

The Millers boast just one point from their opening three outings in England's second tier, while their newly-relegated visitors are one of just two sides with three victories on the board.

We say: Rotherham United 0-2 Leicester City

While Rotherham will be desperate for a first league win of the campaign and are often difficult to beat, we see Leicester having too much quality for the Millers at the weekend and expect them to pick up another win to continue their perfect record at the start of the Championship season.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Southampton vs. QPR (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Southampton manager Russell Martin on July 25, 2023© Reuters

Southampton will bid to continue their strong start to life back in the Championship when they play host to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon.

At a time when the Saints are unbeaten in three league games, the visitors have lost two of their fixtures over the same period to sit in 17th position in the table.

We say: Southampton 3-0 Queens Park Rangers

While QPR have prevailed in some important away fixtures under Ainsworth, we feel that it will not be the case at the weekend. Southampton already have a squad capable of pushing for promotion this season and we expect them to cruise to victory at their home ground.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

West Brom vs. Middlesbrough (Saturday, 3.00pm)

West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberan on April 26, 2023© Reuters

West Bromwich Albion will be aiming to record back-to-back home wins in the Championship when they welcome struggling Middlesbrough to The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.

The Baggies have endured an indifferent start to their third-straight season in the second tier, while Boro are yet to bounce back from playoff disappointment last term.

We say: West Bromwich Albion 2-1 Middlesbrough

West Brom have looked vulnerable on the road so far this season, but back-to-back home games in the next week will hand the Baggies a real opportunity to find some consistency.

Boro have not looked like the same team who threatened to catch Sheffield United in the automatic-promotion race last term, and we are expecting another loss for Boro in the Black Country.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.
