Paul Heckingbottom has replaced Neil Lennon as head coach at Easter Road.

Hibernian defender Paul Hanlon admits he is always anxious when a new manager arrives.

The Hibs vice-captain is in his testimonial year but is not immune to the concern over his place in the team after Paul Heckingbottom replaced Neil Lennon as head coach.

Hanlon started in Heckingbottom's first game, a 2-0 win over Hamilton, and will continue trying to impress his new boss when Hibs take on Dundee in the Ladbrokes Premiership on Friday night.

Hanlon said: "There's obviously a bit of anxiety involved with everyone, not just players, staff, everyone.

"Manager comes in with new ideas, you need to be able to adapt, adjust to what he wants and obviously try and impress, so there's always the slight doubts like he might not fancy me or things like that.

"So the doubts creep in but you just need to be confident in your own ability and trust yourself to adapt to the new surroundings that he brings. I've been through it a few times now so I know what to expect.

"Obviously I was lucky with the previous manager that he played me most games when I was available, but you can't take that for granted.

"When a new manager comes in it's a kind of clean slate for everyone, so it's time to impress and try do your best in training. But at the same time he's trying to put all the tactical stuff across to us, trying to get as much information out of us as possible and just trying our best to employ what he wants.

"We're all trying to get as much information as we can at the minute and he's trying to find out our strengths and weaknesses and at the same time we're trying to put across what he wants the best that we can.

"So I thought the signs in the Hamilton game were positive. We just need to build on it now and take it into the Dundee game."
