Martin Lanig praises Eintracht Frankfurt fans

Frankfurt's Marco Russ is congratulated by team mates after scoring his team's second goal against Bordeaux during their Europa League group match on September 19, 2013
Martin Lanig is delighted that Eintracht Frankfurt managed to send the thousands of travelling fans home from Bordeaux happy.

Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Martin Lanig has praised the 12,000 supporters who followed the team to Bordeaux for their 1-0 Group F win on Thursday night.

Lanig, who scored the only goal in the late win, said that the players wanted to put on a better show for the fans but were delighted to get through to the next round.

"We're very happy," quotes Lanig as saying. "It was a tough game for us, but the support of the fans was very good. It was amazing for the team to play with these fans.

"We went for a walk today in the afternoon and we saw a lot of fans from Frankfurt, and that gave us more power to play. We saw them celebrating and felt that they were behind us. Scoring in front of them was a bit like scoring at home. I saw the fans screaming, so I had to go to them."

Frankfurt lead the group by four points, which means that they will finish top no matter their final result.
