Borussia Dortmund 3-0 Bayer Leverkusen

Borussia Dortmund comfortably beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 at home in the Bundesliga.

Borussia Dortmund have comfortably defeated Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 at home in the Bundesliga.

The first chance of the game fell to the German champions as early as the third minute when Marcel Schmelzer forced Bayer goalkeeper Bernd Leno into making a save.

It was then the turn of Dortmund custodian Roman Weidenfeller to be called into action when he had to keep out Gonzalo Castro's attempt in the 17th minute.

Mario Gotze came close to breaking the deadlock for the home side in the 21st minute with a long-range effort.

Dortmund's pressure eventually paid off on 29 minutes when Mats Hummels headed home Marcel Schmelzer's delivery from close range.

Jurgen Klopp's side found the target again in the 39th minute when Lukasz Piszczek crafted a cross that Jakub Blaszczykowski turned home.

Dortmund continued to dominate proceedings at the Signal-Iduna Park in the second half and wrapped up a convincing performance with their third goal.

It came in the 78th minute, when Robert Lewandowski headed home a Marco Reus delivery from the centre of the Bayer penalty box.
