Southampton could swoop for Barcelona forward Paco Alcacer in this summer's transfer window, according to a report.

Southampton are reportedly considering a summer swoop for Barcelona forward Paco Alcacer.

Alcacer, 24, joined Barcelona on a five-year deal from Valencia in the summer of 2016, but has only scored 15 times in 50 appearances for the Catalan giants.

The striker has netted 10 times in his 37 La Liga appearances for Barcelona, although he has struggled for regular playing time due to the presence of Luis Suarez in the centre-forward position.

Valencia have been linked with a swoop for their former striker, but according to The Mirror, Southampton boss Mark Hughes is also interested in bringing the Spaniard to the Premier League.

Southampton are also reportedly trying to sign Stoke City attacker Xherdan Shaqiri, but could now face competition from Liverpool for the Swiss international.
