Augsburg see off Mainz

Augsburg secure a narrow win against Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga.

Augsburg have beaten Mainz 2-1 in their Bundesliga match this afternoon.

Andre Hahn looked dangerous for Augsburg early on, hitting a shot wide from outside the area.

He continued his good start to the match, although again his effort missed the target.

It proved to be third time lucky for Hahn when he latched onto a Daniel Baier pass to smash the ball into the bottom corner.

Mainz struggled to impose their game on their opponents, but Elkin Soto did have an opportunity late in the first half which he put wide.

The home side doubled their lead early in the second half as Hahn struck his second of the afternoon.

Mainz were given a way back into match when the referee awarded them a penalty. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting stepped up to score.

However, any hopes the away side had of equalising were extinguished when Christian Wetklo was sent off.
