Canada's Brad Jacobs expected tougher test against Team GB

Canada skip Brad Jacobs says that he is surprised his side won the men's curling final comfortably against Great Britain in Sochi.

Canada skip Brad Jacobs has said that he did not expect to have an easy ride in the final of the men's curling at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The North American team got the better of Great Britain 9-3 in eight ends to win gold in the event in Sochi on Friday.

"I was really expecting to have to make my last one, or to be in a nail-biter," The AP quotes the 28-year-old as saying. "You never expect to go out there and blow a team out.

"Curling is a Canadian sport and it goes to show we are still at the top. It's always hard to wear the Maple Leaf. We are expected, Canada, to at least medal and if not win a gold.

"It's tough to carry that weight on your shoulders. Now we are gold medal winners. And I'm relieved."

The Canadian women's team also won gold in curling, as they defeated Sweden 6-3 in the final on Thursday.
