Tomas Berdych brushes aside Nicolas Mahut to advance at Wimbledon

2010 runner-up Tomas Berdych remains on course to avenge his previous Wimbledon disappointment, booking a place in the third round.

Tomas Berdych has advanced through to round three at Wimbledon with a comfortable win over Nicolas Mahut.

The sixth seed, who reached the final at SW19 five years ago, came through unscathed 6-1 6-4 6-4.

Mahut broke Berdych's serve in the opening game of the contest, but the Czech ace claimed two breaks of his own to take the opener in a straightforward manner in the end.

Berdych sailed through the second set, holding throughout to grab a real foothold on things, before breaking his 65th-in-the-world opponent early on in the final set to overcome his second Wimbledon test.

Compatriot Lukas Rosol could await in the next round, should he overcome Pablo Andujar.
