Belgian Steve Darcis reveals that his popularity on Twitter grew following his first-round win over Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon.

Belgian Steve Darcis has revealed that his popularity on the social networking site Twitter has grown since his win over Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon on Monday.

Darcis secured a three-set win over the French Open champion on grass, inflicting Nadal's first-ever defeat in the opening round of a Grand Slam competition.

"I had many texts after the win. My Twitter followers jumped from 2,000 to 5,000!" he told BBC Sport.

Nadal was eliminated in the second round by Lukas Rosol last year.
