James Ward has defeated Vincent Millot in straight sets to reach the US Open final qualifying round.

After easing through his first-round encounter, the British number two broke twice during the opener to continue his impressive form.

The 27-year-old secured an early break in the second before being pegged back by the Frenchman, but the Londoner struck again in the ninth game to seal a 6-4 6-4 victory.
