The Brit, who was knocked out of the singles tournament in the first round, was on the losing end of a 2-6 3-6 defeat to Caroline Garcia and Katarina Srebotnik.

Robson and Flipkens were tested early on as they were forced to save two break points, but they eventually suffered a double break.

The duo attempted to fight back, but they squandered all four break-point opportunities before succumbing to a one-set deficit.

It was a poor start to the second set for Robson and Flipkens as they lost serve instantly, but they kept themselves in the match by saving four break points.

The pair eventually broke back, but it was not enough to launch a comeback as Garcia and Srebotnik earned a double break to take victory.
