Result: Bernard Tomic sets up Marin Cilic clash

Bernard Tomic has set up a second round match against Croatian Marin Cilic after defeating Michael Yani in straight sets in New York.

In his first US Open, 18-year-old Tomic took one hour and 50 minutes to record a 6-3 6-4 6-4 victory on court 11.

Tomic and Cilic will meet either on Wednesday or Thursday depending on the schedule.
