Feliciano Lopez has seen off the challenge of Nikoloz Basilashvili in the first round of the US Open.

The 18th seed fired down 11 aces on the way to a 7-6 6-1 6-3 triumph over the world number 101.
Earlier this summer, Basilashvili recorded a surprise win over Lopez at Wimbledon, but despite matching the Spaniard during the opening set, he was unable to enjoy similar success on the left-hander's big serve.
After edging the opener, Lopez took control against the Georgian, who was making his debut at Flushing Meadows, and victory was sealed in just 96 minutes.
