Petra Kvitova safely through at US Open

Fifth seed Petra Kvitova has booked her place in round four of the US Open after beating Pauline Parmentier in straight sets.

The Czech was dominant in the opening set and broke the French world number 97 in the fifth game before going on to win 6-4.

The former Wimbledon champion then broke again in the second as she closed out the match 6-4.

Kvitova will now take on 11th seed Marion Bartoli for a quarter-final berth.
