Ana Ivanovic knocked out of US Open by Karolina Pliskova in second round

Ana Ivanovic has failed to get past the second round at the US Open after losing 7-5 6-4 to Karolina Pliskova at Flushing Meadows.

Ivanovic relinquished a break point in the second game of the opening set, but was able to grab the break at the second time of asking.

However, Pliskova secured an immediate double break, and despite getting a break point back herself, Ivanovic lost serve for a third time to lose the opening set.

The first few games of the second set went by way of serve until Pliskova struck on her third opportunity to grab a break.

Despite Ivanovic instantly responding with a break point of her own, her opponent had just enough to move back on top and finish off the match by winning the second set.
