Ferrer marches on in New York

Fourth seed David Ferrer has eased into the third round of the US Open thanks to a straight-sets victory over Igor Sisjling.

The Spaniard saved four breaks points in the opening set before breaking his Dutch opponent twice to take it 6-2.

He only needed one break to win the second 6-3 before sealing the victory 14-12 in a lengthy third-set tie-break.

Ferrer will meet either Gilles Muller or Lleyton Hewitt for a place in round four.
