Dolgopolov ousts Baghdatis in round two

Alexandr Dolgopolov has defeated Marcos Baghdatis in four sets to make it into the third round of the US Open at Flushing Meadows.

The 14th seed took the opening set 6-4 but was pegged back by the flamboyant Cypriot 6-3 in the second.

However, the Russian was soon back on top with an emphatic 6-0 win in the third.

In an up-and-down fourth, Baghdatis missed the opportunity to serve out the set twice before it went to a tie-break.

Dolgopolov then earned three mini-breaks off his opponent to seal the win 7-5.
