Eugenie Bouchard beats Dominika Cibulkova to progress

Eugenie Bouchard progresses to the US Open fourth round after beating Dominika Cibulkova 7-6 4-6 6-3.

Eugenie Bouchard has beaten Dominika Cibulkova 7-6 4-6 6-3 in two hours and 51 minutes.

Bouchard needed to save five set points in the first set. Trailing at 5-6, she defended two set points to take it into an epic tie-break, which included six consecutive points against serve. The Canadian saved a further three set points before winning 11-9.

More drama ensued in the second set. Cibulkova was a break behind going into game five, and needed eight break points to level the score. She then raced into a 0-40 lead against Bouchard's serve, before holding to win the set.

Bouchard came through the final set after winning a seven-deuce game four against Cibulkova's serve. She then held her own serve to progress.
