Roberto Bautista Agut races into round three

Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut eases to a straight-sets win over America's Tim Smyczek to reach the third round at the US Open.

Roberto Bautista Agut took just over 90 minutes to progress to the third round at the US Open, beating Tim Smyczek 6-3 6-2 6-1.

The 17th seed broke the American at the start of the opener, before saving a string of break points to clinch the opening set.

The Spaniard seemed to up his intensity in the second, attacking Smyczek's serve to quickly secure a double break and another set.

There was no let-up in the third, with Bautista Agut keeping his own serving consistent before hitting big returns to put the American under pressure, winning the third in just 26 minutes.

Bautista Agut will face either Fabio Fognini or Adrian Mannarino in the next round.
