Sam Stosur: 'I had one of my best days'

Sam Stosur says that she had one of her best days on court after beating Serena Williams to become the US Open champion.

The ninth seed defeated the three-time winner in straight sets 6-2 6-3.

"I guess I had one of my best days," said the 27-year-old Australian. "I'm very fortunate to have been able to do it on this stage in New York, where I've always loved to play.

"It was a dream of mine to be here one day and I don't know what to say to describe how I'm feeling."

The triumph is Stosur's first grand slam singles title.
