Former US President Bill Clinton praises career of Serena Williams

Former US President Bill Clinton praises the career of Serena Williams after she clinched her fifth US Open title.

Former US President Bill Clinton has hailed the style of Serena Williams following her US Open victory.

The American pro clinched the Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows on Sunday by seeing off Victoria Azarenka in three sets.

"She always wanted to be someone who opened up new avenues for girls and women and she was able to play highly competitive, high concentration tennis, win but always be concerned about why she was really doing it," Clinton told BBC Radio Five Live.

The 31-year-old now has five US Open titles to her name.
