Romanian youngster Irina-Camelia Begu is pleased to have recorded her first win over a top 10 opponent.

Irina-Camelia Begu has expressed her happiness at achieving her first ever victory over a player ranked within the world's top 10.

The player in question was Caroline Wozniacki, who lost 6-2 6-2 to Romanian at the US Open yesterday evening.

Reflecting on her win, the 22-year-old admitted that the fact that there was no pressure on her heading into the encounter may have helped her cause.

"It's the first top 10 player I've beaten and I'm really happy," Begu told a press conference. "I had nothing to lose tonight. I had the right tactics from the beginning and played the same from beginning to end. I served really well, too, which was the key."

Begu has been seeded 96th at Flushing Meadows.
