Andreas Seppi through to third round of BNP Paribas Open

Andrea Seppi has advanced to the third round of the BNP Paribas Open thanks to a straight-sets win over Daniel Brands.

The Italian broke the German twice in the first set while saving three break points of his own, as he won 7-5.

In a close second set Seppi had enough quality to edge a 6-4 victory to seal the match just inside the two-hour mark.

The 29-year-old will play Ernests Gulbis in the third round.
