Serena Williams powers into French Open semi-finals

Serena Williams books her place in the French Open semi-finals by beating Sara Errani 6-1 6-3 with a commanding display in Paris.

World number one Serena Williams has produced a dominant display against Sara Errani to book her place in the semi-finals of this year's French Open.

The 33-year-old proved far too good for her opponent, as she cruised a 6-1 6-3 win that has kept alive her hopes of winning a third title at Roland Garros.

Williams started strongly and took just 27 minutes to wrap up the first set with a powerful performance that saw her break Errani three times.

Errani came back fighting at the start of the second set, but once she lost her serve in the seventh game, Williams showed her experience to see off the Italian to secure her spot in the last four.
