Andy Murray leads Great Britain into Davis Cup final

Andy Murray beats Bernard Tomic in straight sets to guide Great Britain into the Davis Cup final with a 3-1 victory over Australia.

Great Britain have reached their first Davis Cup final for 37 years after Andy Murray recorded a straight-sets win over Australia's Bernard Tomic.

After the world number three and his brother Jamie came through an epic clash in the doubles on Saturday, Great Britain required just one win from Sunday's two singles rubbers, but it soon became apparent that they would secure their progress with one match to spare.

Despite being visibly fatigued, Murray stormed into a 5-2 lead in the opening set, and despite Tomic breaking back, he was able to strike in the final game to move Leon Smith's side closer to victory.

The second set followed the same pattern, but at 5-3 up, Murray served out for a two-set advantage before an early break in the third left Great Britain on the brink.

Murray earned a second break to give himself a chance to serve for the tie at 5-2 and he made no mistake, holding to 15 to leave his team one triumph away from what would be considered a remarkable achievement.

Great Britain will play either Belgium or Argentina in the final, which will take place at the end of November.
