Nicolas Almagro tells his Spanish teammates to hold their heads high following Sunday's Davis Cup final defeat to the Czech Republic.

Nicolas Almagro has insisted that Spain should not be disappointed with themselves following their Davis Cup final defeat to the Czech Republic.

World number 11 Almagro was stunned by Radek Stepanek in the deciding rubber on Sunday in Prague to hand the Czechs their first triumph in 32 years.

"These are very tough moments, but we can't be down on ourselves in any way as we fought to the last moment," Almagro told TVE.

"We are runners-up in the Davis Cup. It's not what we wanted as we came here to win the title but we are leaving with our heads held high knowing that we did a good job."

Spain were aiming to win a fourth title in five years.
