Dimitrov reaches first Grand Slam quarter-final

Grigor Dimitrov's dream run at the Australian Open continued on day eight as he overcame Roberto Bautista-Agut to reach the quarter-finals.

The big-serving Bulgarian had never progressed beyond the third round of a Grand Slam prior to 2014, but he moved into the last eight in Melbourne with 6-3 3-6 6-2 6-4 victory in 144 minutes.

Dimitrov produced 11 aces, 38 winners and 34 unforced errors, while Bautista-Agut, who knocked out fifth seed Juan Martin del Potro in round two, hit 27 winners and 45 unforced errors.

Next up for the 22nd seed is a clash with either Rafael Nadal or Kei Nishikori.

Dimitrov is the boyfriend of Maria Sharapova, who exited the women's draw earlier on Monday after suffering a three-set defeat to Dominika Cibulkova.
