Top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan fail to progress beyond round three of the Australian Open for the first time in 11 years, losing 7-6 6-4 to Eric Butorac and Raven Klaasen.

Top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan have been knocked out of the men's doubles at the Australian Open after losing to Eric Butorac and Raven Klaasen in straight sets.

The 7-6(9) 6-4 defeat means that the 15-time Grand Slam-winning team fail to progress beyond round three in Melbourne for the first time in 11 years.

American Butorac and South African Klaasen won 68 points during the 78-minute match, while the Bryan brothers won 66.

The reward for beating the twins is a clash with 12 seeds Treat Huey and Dominic Inglot.
