Andy Murray surges into round three

Andy Murray takes just one hour and 33 minutes to beat big-serving Sam Groth in the second round of the Australian Open.

Andy Murray dropped just five games on his way to defeating Sam Groth 6-0 6-4 6-1 in the second round of the Australian Open this morning.

Heading into the contest, much had been made of the threat that Groth's serve may pose to Murray, given that the Aussie recently recorded the fastest ever at 163mph.

However, world number two Murray made light work of it, breaking his 28-year-old opponent's serve on three occasions to claim the first set in 30 minutes.

The second set was more of an even contest, yet expectant father Murray still came out on top and he went on to seal victory in one hour and 33 minutes to book his place in the third round of the tournament for the eighth time.

Up next for the Scot is a clash against Portugal's Joao Sousa, with a place in round four up for grabs.
